Earth Mother

With Rounded Womb

She sits alone,

Connected by the Birth Cord

To an Eternal Spring of Being.

Her Head is bowed

Hands in Touch

With the Becoming.

Life Surrounds

And Life Within

What new life will you begin?

Description

A figure with an extended belly, rests at the ground of the earth. Her back is upright, supported, her head gazing downward at the lightning of life pointing towards her womb. She is attuned deeply to both what is within and around her. She is more than connected to nature - she IS the embodiment of the earth itself. Is the blood red birth cord depicted outside of her a way for nature to support her life, or is she the source of it all? Perhaps she is both nurtured and nurturer.

The smallest of earth’s life forms surround her - the birds and bugs - dancing and celebrating the eternal Spring. A heart of the earth has been buried beneath her, but it too is surrounded by the same dance of life, as it rises to greet her once again, break ground, and find love in a new way.
