I have given and received card readings in a number of different environments.
A candlelit cafe, an atmospheric wine bar, the safety and privacy of a home residence. I’ve also given readings in crowded venues with booming music or on windswept sidewalks freezing in San Francisco summers. I’ve given readings in clay studios, birthday parties and benefit fund raisers. I’ve experienced readings in the heart of nature’s wild.
What I find fascinating is that in all of these environments, the card reader and recipient have been able to be transported into transformative thought through the insight of image, story and archetype.
Deep discussions ensue that unveil meaningful revelations around a person’s question or concern. Querents leave the reading table feeling better about their options and have experienced truly compassionate understanding for themselves AND from someone on the outside who has truly listened to them.
So, does environment matter?
As evidenced by the experiences above, the answer would appear to be “no.” However, environment can profoundly impact the quality of a reading. Though a venue with loud music and lots of people drinking does not seem to be ideal for a card deep dive, I ironically find that it is on these “party” occasions that the demand is high and the card reading line is out the door!
Though alcoholic influence may not be the best state of mine to approach a reading, sadly this is often the only way some people can loosen up enough to be open to a vulnerable process. I’ve given readings to some very drunk individuals (which happened to be family members of powerful political figures) and was surprised that the readings could still hold positive impacts. It was funny to watch people at the party wondering if they should “save” me from such clients, only to find that the readings would end well with smiles and even heartfelt (albeit drunken) hugs. Some even recorded their reading takeaways to review when they were in a more sober mind.
So if readings CAN happen in just about any environment, are there any environments that can take it to the next level?
Enter the Gregangelo Museum. When I first stepped into this transformed house in the St. Francis Wood district of San Francisco, I was immediately transported to another time, place and dimension I didn’t know was possible on this earth.
Each room, and everything in it, is thoughtfully and painstakingly created by artists. But when I stepped into the Falling Star Room, it was love at first gaze. This small room, found up a secret stairway, is dedicated to the established fact that we are all made from the dust of stars. There is a playful swinging bench and a chest covered in crystal balls. The room is decorated with earthy yet sheening fabrics that place you absolutely somewhere between the outers stars and the inner earth. When I found this room, I found the environmental match to my work with the billion year-old stones. Imagine - a room completely dedicated to divination and deep meditation!
It is from there I am now offering exclusive readings in San Francisco, more information on this coming soon. It is also the destination for the Seeker and Sage immersive event now happening monthly. The next opportunity for group readings is on Friday, October 18th!

Speaking of environment, be safe and well as you can, it’s a wild world out there… do whatever you can, great or small, to take care of this earth that holds our every move, our every reading, our every moment…
